ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

CLINICAL DATA:               Abdominal pain.

FINDINGS:                The liver and spleen are normal in size.  The liver is hyperechoic.  There is no focal hepatic mass noted.

There is no ascites.

Gallbladder is normal without any evidence of a calculus, wall thickening, or pericholecystic fluid collection.

Common bile duct measures 5 mm.  There is no dilation of intrahepatic biliary ducts.

Pancreas is normal without any evidence of a focal mass.

There is no evidence of abdominal aortic aneurysm.

The right kidney measures 10.3 x 3.9 x 4.1 cm and the left kidney measures 10.5 x 5.9 x 4.8 cm.  There is no evidence of renal calculus, focal mass, or hydronephrosis.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   Hyperechoic liver, most probably due to fatty infiltration.  Other possibilities cannot be excluded.
2.                   No evidence of cholelithiasis.
