BILATERAL BREAST ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION

BILATERAL BREAST ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Right breast upper outer quadrant periareolar region nipple discharge.  Previous MRI from 12/29/2011 and mammogram from 12/08/2011.

FINDINGS:             The right and left breasts were studied in a clockwise fashion.  There is concern for solid appearing mass in the retroareolar region, one seen at the 6 o’clock position, which measures approximately up to 8 mm and a second at approximately the 7 o’clock position measuring up to 6 mm.  There is a calcification noted at the 2 o’clock position measuring 2 mm.  The remainder of the right breast shows no other solid or cystic lesions.  In the left breast, there is a small 2 mm calcification in the left breast.  There are no other solid or cystic lesions in the left breast.  The remainder of the evaluation shows no other gross abnormality.  Given the patient’s history and prior studies, if there is any further concern, biopsy may be considered.

IMPRESSION:        Two solid lesions in the right breast as discussed above measuring 6-8 mm at the 6 and 7 o’clock positions in the breast.  The possibility of malignancy cannot be excluded.  These two solid lesions are noted in the right breast and there is no other significant abnormality in the remainder of the right or left breast clearly identified on the ultrasound.  Please see comments above.

BI-RADS Clinical Assessment Category 4  Suspicious abnormality – biopsy should be considered.
