ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

CLINICAL DATA:            Pain.

FINDINGS:             The liver and spleen are normal in size.  There is no focal hepatic mass noted.  However, the liver shows increased echogenicity.

There is no ascites.

Gallbladder is normal without any evidence of a calculus or wall thickening.  Common bile duct measures 3 mm.

Pancreas is unremarkable.

There is no abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Right kidney measures 10.2 x 4.4 x 5.1 cm and left kidney measures 9.8 x 6 x 5.1 cm.  There is no evidence of renal calculus, focal mass, or hydronephrosis.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   No evidence of cholelithiasis.
2.                   Liver shows increased echogenicity, probably due to fatty infiltration.  Other possibilities cannot be excluded.
