ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION

ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION

FINDINGS:               An ultrasound examination of the abdomen shows the presence of ascites.

The liver is poorly visualized.  The gallbladder appears to be normal with no evidence of cholelithiasis.  The common bile duct measures 0.4 cm.

The right kidney measures 12.1 x 5.3 x 6.9 cm.  There is a cyst seen in the right kidney measuring 1.1 x 1.2 cm.  The left kidney measures 13.0 x 5.1 x 5.9 cm.  No solid or cystic lesions can be seen within the left kidney.

The spleen and pancreas appear to be grossly normal, though the pancreas is poorly visualized.  The abdominal aorta appears to be normal.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   Ascites.
2.                   The liver is poorly defined.
3.                   Right renal cyst as described.
4.                   No other acute abdominal process identified.
