TRANSABDOMINAL AND TRANSVAGINAL PELVIC ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Menorrhagia.

FINDINGS:             The uterus measures 8 x 4.7 x 5 cm.  There is an echogenic structure within the uterus measuring up to 2 cm consistent with a fibroid.  Other etiologies cannot be excluded.  The endometrial stripe measures 9 mm.  The right ovary measures 2.9 cm and the left 3 cm in length.  There are simple cysts in the ovaries, on the right measuring up to 1.5 cm and on the left up to 1.2 cm.  There is no evidence of free fluid in the cul-de-sac or other gross abnormality.  If there is any further concern, would recommend clinical correlation or further evaluation as needed.
