ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

CLINICAL DATA:            Abdominal pain.

FINDINGS:             The liver and spleen are normal in size.  The liver shows increased echogenicity.  There is no focal hepatic mass noted.  Splenic vessels appeared to be rather prominent.

Gallbladder is normal without any evidence of a calculus or wall thickening.  Common bile duct measures 3 mm.  There is no dilatation of intrahepatic biliary ducts.

Pancreas is normal without any evidence of a focal mass.

There is no abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Right kidney measures 10 x 4.3 x 5 cm and left kidney measures 10.4 x 5.6 x 6.1 cm.  There is no evidence of a renal calculus, focal mass, or hydronephrosis.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   Hyperechoic liver, most probably due to fatty infiltration.
2.                   No evidence of cholelithiasis.
