ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

CLINICAL DATA:            Pain.

FINDINGS:             There is mild hepatomegaly and the liver is hyperechoic.  There is no focal mass noted.

There is no ascites.

The spleen is normal in size and echotexture.

Gallbladder is unremarkable.  There is no evidence of a calculus or wall thickening.  Common bile duct measures 5 mm.  There is no dilatation of intrahepatic biliary ducts.

Pancreas is normal without any evidence of a focal mass.  There is no abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Right kidney measures 11.8 x 3.6 x 4.2 cm and left kidney measures 11.7 x 5.7 x 5 cm.  There is no evidence of a renal calculus, focal mass, or hydronephrosis.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   No evidence of cholelithiasis.
2.                   Mild hepatomegaly with increased echogenicity, most probably due to fatty infiltration.  Other possibilities cannot be completely excluded.
