BILATERAL DIGITAL SCREENING MAMMOGRAM WITH CAD EVALUATION

BILATERAL DIGITAL SCREENING MAMMOGRAM WITH CAD EVALUATION

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         The patient has had a previous examination, but just not remembered where and when.  An attempt should be made to locate these films with the patient’s help and have them sent to this department for comparison with the current study.

TECHNIQUE:          CC and MLO views of each breast were obtained along with CAD evaluation on the digital mammogram machine and the CAD evaluation was reviewed.

FINDINGS:               The patient presents with a complaint of a decrease in right breast size.  This is noted on the mammogram.

There are scattered calcifications seen in the anterior aspect of the right breast.  These are somewhat localized and though these do not appear to be typically malignant in character, a breast MRI is suggested for further evaluation.

Otherwise, there is scattered heterogeneous breast tissue with no evidence of a mass lesion.  Predominantly, there is fatty replacement.

Some benign appearing calcifications are noted in the left breast.  The subcutaneous tissue and vascularity is normal.  The skin and the nipple are otherwise normal.  The right breast nipple appears to be flattened.

IMPRESSION:
1.          Decrease in right breast size as compared with the left.
2.         Somewhat grouped calcifications, which though not appearing malignant, a breast MRI is suggested for further evaluation of this patient.

Thank you for the referral.
XXXXXXXXX, M.D.
