UPRIGHT MRI EXAMINATION OF THE HEAD WITHOUT CONTRAST

UPRIGHT MRI EXAMINATION OF THE HEAD WITHOUT CONTRAST

INDICATION FOR STUDY:           Dizziness.  Loss of balance.  Patient refused MRI I.V. contrast.

FINDINGS:              Axial T1, T2, FLAIR, and diffusion weighted images, sagittal T1, and coronal T2 weighted images were obtained on the upright MRI.  There are slight age-related changes consistent with atrophy and small-vessel ischemic disease though within normal limits for the patient’s age overall.  There is no acute area of infarct, bleed, midline shift, or extraaxial fluid collection.  The cerebellum, CP angle, and brainstem show no gross abnormality.  The visualized seventh-eighth nerve complex region shows no significant abnormality.  There are changes noted in the sinuses consistent with sinusitis essentially throughout and would recommend clinical correlation or further evaluation as necessary.

IMPRESSION:        Slight age-related changes to the brain parenchyma.  No other significant acute abnormality to the brain parenchyma.  Changes consistent with sinusitis throughout the paranasal sinuses and would recommend clinical correlation or further evaluation as needed.  Please see comments above.

Thank you for the referral.
