MRI EXAMINATION OF THE LUMBAR SPINE WITHOUT CONTRAST

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Right lower extremity numbness.  Patient had refused MRI I.V. contrast.

FINDINGS:               Sagittal T1 and T2 and axial T1 and T2 weighted images were obtained on the Open MRI.  There is slight desiccation of the disc throughout the lumbar spine and there is also slight disc space loss at L5-S1.  There is a capacious canal.  The conus and nerve roots within the thecal sac show no gross abnormality.  There is no significant disc herniation, central canal stenosis, or neuroforaminal narrowing.

IMPRESSION:         Slight desiccation of the disc and there is disc space loss at L5-S1.  No significant central canal stenosis or neuroforaminal narrowing.  Please see comments above.
