MRI EXAMINATION OF THE LEFT SHOULDER WITHOUT CONTRAST

MRI EXAMINATION OF THE LEFT SHOULDER WITHOUT CONTRAST

FINDINGS:               Axial, sagittal, and coronal oblique images were obtained on the Open MRI at XXXXXXXXX.  There are degenerative changes at the acromioclavicular joint and impingement syndrome.  There is a high riding shoulder.  The supraspinatus tendon and muscle are identified and appear intact, but there is edema near the insertion and concern for a partial tear.  The age of this is indeterminate and would recommend clinical correlation.  The glenoid labrum and biceps tendon appear without gross abnormality and there is no significant joint effusion in the region of the glenoid fossa.  There is no other significant acute abnormality.

IMPRESSION:          Impingement syndrome.  Partial tear near the insertion of the rotator cuff.  The age of this is indeterminate and would recommend clinical correlation.  A preliminary report was discussed with Dr. XXXXXXXXX at the time of examination.

Thank you for the referral.
