MRI EXAMINATION OF THE RIGHT HAND WITHOUT CONTRAST

MRI EXAMINATION OF THE RIGHT HAND WITHOUT CONTRAST

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Radiating pain.

FINDINGS:               Multiplanar and multisequence imaging was obtained on the 1.5 Tesla GE MRI.  The visualized soft tissues, muscles, tendons, and bony structures show no gross abnormality.  There are slight degenerative changes.  The joint spaces appear within normal limits.  If there is any further concern, would recommend further evaluation as clinically necessary.  There is no significant ganglion cyst.

IMPRESSION:         Slight chronic changes.  No other significant abnormality.  Would recommend further evaluation as clinically necessary.  In the right index finger seen on approximately image 11 of series 16 and 18, there is soft tissue mass, which appears benign in nature towards the medial aspect of the digit.  It measures up to approximately 1 cm in length and to approximately 6 mm in diameter.  It is of uncertain significance.  This may represent a small lipoma.  There is no clear evidence of other gross abnormality.  I understand this lesion has been there for many years.  Would recommend clinical correlation as needed.  There is no evidence of destruction of the bony structures or other surrounding soft tissues.  Contrast examination may be considered if clinically necessary.

Thank you for the referral.
