MRI EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN WITH AND WITHOUT CONTRAST

MRI EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN WITH AND WITHOUT CONTRAST

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Prior CT from XXXXXXXX.  Cirrhosis.  Hepatitis.

FINDINGS:               The patient’s prior CT study was reviewed.  Multiplanar and multisequence imaging was obtained on the 1.5 Tesla GE MRI with and without contrast.  There is prominence to the liver especially in the left lobe slightly in size.  There is no significant lesion or mass or abnormal enhancing lesion or mass identified in the liver.  The post-contrast evaluation is helpful.  The left lobe of the liver appears somewhat prominent at the anterior aspect and has a somewhat lobulated appearance on the coronal images seen on image 5 of series 5.  This does cause some displacement of the stomach inferiorly and laterally.  There is no significant abnormality in the surrounding fat planes and no significant varices identified.  The spleen appears enlarged in size consistent with portal hypertension and cirrhosis.  There are changes consistent a small simple cyst in the right kidney seen on the post-contrast evaluation on approximately image 23 of series 6.  There is no other significant abnormality identified or lesion or mass.

IMPRESSION:         Splenomegaly.  Changes suggestive of regenerating hepatic nodule especially in the left lobe of the liver, but no significant lesion or mass to suggest carcinoma.  These changes overall appear similar to what was seen on the CT evaluation.  There is no evidence of free fluid.  Please see comments above.
