MRI EXAMINATION OF THE SACRUM AND COCCYX WITHOUT CONTRAST

MRI EXAMINATION OF THE SACRUM AND COCCYX WITHOUT CONTRAST

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Coccygeal pain.  Prior x-ray from XXXXXXX.

FINDINGS:               Multiplanar and multisequence imaging was obtained on the Open MRI at XXXXXXX.  There is no significant fracture or dislocation identified to the sacrum or coccyx.  The visualized bony structures appear without gross abnormality.  There is no significant contusion or hematoma.  The remainder of the surrounding soft tissues and bony structures show no gross abnormality.  If there is any further clinical concern, would recommend further evaluation as needed.  The pelvic structures are only seen in a limited fashion.  The ovaries are identified bilaterally and show multiple follicular cysts on them.  The right ovary measures approximately 3.8 x 2.6 cm and the left ovary measures approximately 3.2 x 2 cm.  They appear slightly prominent in size.  Would recommend clinical correlation, but there is no clear evidence of other significant abnormality.  If there is any further concern, would recommend more dedicated evaluation of the pelvic female organs as needed.

IMPRESSION:         No significant abnormality to the sacrum or coccyx.  Please see comments above.

Thank you for the referral.
