MRI EXAMINATION OF THE RIGHT ELBOW WITHOUT CONTRAST

MRI EXAMINATION OF THE RIGHT ELBOW WITHOUT CONTRAST

FINDINGS:                 Axial, sagittal, and coronal images were obtained on the 1.5 Tesla GE MRI.  There is motion artifact limiting the evaluation.  There is contusion and edema noted in the radius and humerus on the radial aspect.  There is no significant fracture.  There is small joint effusion.  There is also a partial tear of the attachments at the epicondylar region along the radial aspect.  This is seen from image 14 through 18 of series 3.  There are also similar changes of a partial tear along the ulnar side of the epicondyle also.  There does not appear to be complete tear or retraction of the muscles or tendons.  Unfortunately, the motion artifact does limit the evaluation somewhat.  There is no clear evidence of other gross abnormality.

IMPRESSION:           Acute abnormalities with contusion in the bones and partial tear in the region of the attachments on the medial and lateral epicondylar regions.  There does not appear to be clear evidence of complete tear of the muscles or tendons.  Would recommend clinical correlation or further evaluation as needed.  The examination is limited as discussed.  Please see comments above.
