MRI EXAMINATION OF THE LEFT SHOULDER WITHOUT CONTRAST

MRI EXAMINATION OF THE LEFT SHOULDER WITHOUT CONTRAST

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Pain.  Patient has had previous x-ray evaluations.

FINDINGS:               Axial, sagittal, and coronal oblique images of the left shoulder without contrast were performed on the Open MRI at XXXXXXX.  The patient was to return to complete a contrast portion of the examination also of right shoulder, but has not had returned.  The examination therefore has delay in dictation, but is now being dictated.  There are significant degenerative changes at the acromioclavicular joint.  There is high riding shoulder.  There is impingement syndrome.  The supraspinatus tendon and muscle appear intact, but there is significant edema near the insertion and changes consistent with a partial tear near the insertion.  The glenoid labrum and biceps tendon appear intact.  There is no significant joint effusion.  If there is any further concern, would recommend further evaluation as necessary.
