MRI EXAMINATION OF THE HEAD WITHOUT CONTRAST

MRI EXAMINATION OF THE HEAD WITHOUT CONTRAST

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Severe headaches, right frontal.

FINDINGS:               Axial, sagittal, and coronal images were obtained on the Open MRI at XXXXXXXX without contrast.  There is no significant infarct, bleed, midline shift, or extraaxial fluid collection.  There are a few nonspecific areas within the white matter, which most likely are consistent with small-vessel ischemic disease and of no significance.  If there is any further concern, would recommend further evaluation as needed or contrast evaluation or follow-up.  Would recommend comparison with prior studies if available.  The ventricles and sulci otherwise show no gross abnormality.  The cerebellum, CP angles, and brainstem show no gross abnormality.  There is significant deformity to the right orbit, which I understand is from prior trauma and would recommend clinical correlation.  There is no other significant change to suggest bleed or other gross abnormality to the brain parenchyma.  A preliminary report was called.  The left orbit shows no significant abnormality.

IMPRESSION:         A few nonspecific areas of increased signal within the white matter seen especially on the T2 and FLAIR weighted images.  There is no clear evidence of significant acute area of infarct, bleed, or other gross abnormality.  Would recommend further evaluation as clinically necessary.  Please see comments above.

Thank you for the referral.
