MRI EXAMINATION OF THE RIGHT HIP WITHOUT CONTRAST

INDICATION FOR STUDY:         Internal derangement.  Prior x-ray evaluation from XXXXXXX.

FINDINGS:               Multiplanar and multisequence imaging was obtained on the Open MRI at XXXXXXX without contrast.  The patient’s prior x-ray was reviewed.  There are slight degenerative changes and degenerative joint disease.  There is slight joint space loss.  There is no fracture or dislocation.  There is no significant joint effusion.  There are also slight degenerative changes at the acetabular region.  Incidentally noted, there are changes in the left hip, which appears similar and symmetric in appearance.  The soft tissues surrounding the region of the right hip show no gross abnormality.  The muscle tendons appear within normal limits.  The remainder of the structures identified also appear without significant abnormality.  Incidentally noted, there are also slight degenerative changes in the region of the SI joints.

IMPRESSION:         Slight degenerative joint disease and osteoarthritis of the right hip with slight joint space loss.  No other significant abnormality to the right hip and no evidence of fracture or contusion.  Incidentally noted, there are degenerative changes also slightly at the SI joints and also degenerative changes in the lower lumbar spine.  If there is any further concern, dedicated evaluation in these regions may be considered if clinically indicated.

Thank you for the referral.
