X-RAY EVALUATION OF THE LUMBAR SPINE, FIVE VIEWS

X-RAY EVALUATION OF THE LUMBAR SPINE, FIVE VIEWS

FINDINGS:             There are calcified atherosclerotic changes.  There is degenerative disc disease and disc space loss at L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1.  There is osteopenia of the bones.  There is no significant fracture.  There is osteopenia and degenerative changes of the facet joints.  The possibility of slight misalignment at L4-L5 of 4-5 mm with anterolisthesis of L4 secondary to degenerative changes may be present.  There is no other significant bony abnormality, but given the patient’s evaluation if there is any further concern, MRI examination may be considered if clinically indicated.

IMPRESSION:        Significant degenerative changes, degenerative disc disease, and disc space loss as discussed above especially from L3 through S1.  Would recommend clinical correlation or possibly further evaluation with MRI as necessary.

Thank you for the referral.
