CHEST X-RAY, PA AND LATERAL VIEWS
INDICATION
FOR STUDY: Heavy smoker.
FINDINGS: An examination of the chest shows
the lungs to be well expanded and free of active or acute disease. There is interstitial and parenchymal
pulmonary scarring probably reflecting the patient’s smoking habit.
Heart size and contour
is normal. Perihilar and upper lobe
vascularity is normal.
Hemidiaphragms are
normal with clear costophrenic angles. A
lateral chest radiograph shows a clear retrocardiac space and the posterior
sulcus is clear.
Incidentally noted is
a mild dextrorotatory scoliosis of the lower thoracic spine.
IMPRESSION: Mild interstitial and parenchymal
pulmonary scarring probably reflecting the patient’s smoking habit.
