CHEST
X-RAY, PA AND LATERAL VIEWS
INDICATION FOR STUDY: History of nephrolithiasis.
FINDINGS: An examination of the chest shows
the lungs to be well expanded and free of active or acute disease, but with
chronic interstitial and parenchymal pulmonary scarring. Also, in the periphery of the left mid lung
field, there is an oval density, which appears to be osseous and may represent
a prior fracture of the anterior aspect of the left third rib. I do not identify this on a lateral chest
radiograph.
Heart size and contour
is normal.
Hemidiaphragms appear
to be normal with clear costophrenic angles.
A lateral chest radiograph shows a clear retrocardiac space and the
posterior sulcus is clear.
IMPRESSION:
1.
Chronic
interstitial and parenchymal pulmonary scarring.
2.
Questioned
prior fracture of the left third rib anteriorly.
3.
No
active or acute cardiopulmonary process.
Thank you for the referral.
