CHEST X-RAY, AP VIEW
FINDINGS: An AP examination of the chest
was obtained with the patient in a wheelchair.
A lateral film could not be obtained.
The patient is rotated
and it appears that the cardiac apex is on the right. I note that the splenic flexure lies beneath
the left hemidiaphragm suggesting that the positioning is correct though the
left marker is poorly seen at the upper portion of the film.
The left lung is fully
expanded and free of active or acute disease.
Some chronic interstitial and some parenchymal pulmonary scarring is
seen in the right lung base. Heart size
and contour is normal.
IMPRESSION:
1.
Technically
poor film because of the study being obtained with the patient in a
wheelchair. The question of ascites is raised,
as the cardiac apex would appear to be to the right of midline.
2.
No
active or acute pulmonary process is seen, but with chronic pulmonary scarring.
Thank you for the referral.
