CHEST X-RAY, PA AND LATERAL VIEWS

FINDINGS:               An examination of the chest shows the lungs to be well expanded and free of active or acute disease.  Some mild interstitial pulmonary scarring is present.

Heart size and contour is normal.  The patient has had a previous median sternotomy with a bipolar pacing device entering from the left.  The distal electrode appears to lie in the apex of the right ventricle.

Hemidiaphragms are normal with clear costophrenic angles.  A lateral chest radiograph shows a clear retrocardiac space.  The posterior sulcus is clear.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   Previous median sternotomy with a bipolar pacing device as described.
2.                   Mild interstitial pulmonary scarring seen.
3.                   No active or acute cardiopulmonary process.

Thank you for the referral.
