ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

CLINICAL DATA:            Pain.

FINDINGS:             There is mild hepatomegaly.  The liver measures about 15.8 cm.  There is a 2 cm cystic lesion involving the liver, most likely representing a small cyst.

The spleen is normal in size and echotexture.

The gallbladder is normal without any evidence of a calculus or wall thickening.  Common bile duct measures 5 mm.  There is no dilatation of intrahepatic biliary ducts.

Pancreas is normal without any evidence of a focal mass.

The right kidney measures 11.9 x 5.1 x 5.1 cm and left kidney measures 11.2 x 5.4 x 5 cm.  There is no evidence of renal calculus, focal mass, or hydronephrosis.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   Mild hepatomegaly.  Liver measures about 15.8 cm.
2.                   2 cm hepatic cyst.
3.                   No evidence of cholelithiasis.

ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

CLINICAL DATA:      Follow-up to KUB study, 10 mm nonspecific area of density seen in the right upper quadrant.

FINDINGS:             The study is limited due to the presence of overlying bowel gas.

Abdominal aorta and pancreas were not optimally visualized.  The liver, spleen, and gallbladder are unremarkable.  Common bile duct measures 2 mm.  There is no dilatation of intrahepatic biliary ducts.

The spleen is unremarkable.  There is no focal abnormality.

Right kidney measures 4.3 x 1.7 x 2.2 cm and left kidney measures 4.4 x 1.9 x 2 cm.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   Limited study due to the presence of overlying bowel gas.
2.                   The study is unremarkable.  However, considering the clinical data, clinical correlation and if indicated further evaluation is suggested.

ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF THE ABDOMEN

CLINICAL DATA:            Abdominal pain.

FINDINGS:             The liver and spleen are normal in size.  The liver shows increased echogenicity.  There is no focal hepatic mass noted.  Splenic vessels appeared to be rather prominent.

Gallbladder is normal without any evidence of a calculus or wall thickening.  Common bile duct measures 3 mm.  There is no dilatation of intrahepatic biliary ducts.

Pancreas is normal without any evidence of a focal mass.

There is no abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Right kidney measures 10 x 4.3 x 5 cm and left kidney measures 10.4 x 5.6 x 6.1 cm.  There is no evidence of a renal calculus, focal mass, or hydronephrosis.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   Hyperechoic liver, most probably due to fatty infiltration.
2.                   No evidence of cholelithiasis.

FINDINGS:             Special attention was paid to the gallbladder.  It is normal without any evidence of a calculus or wall thickening.  Common bile duct measures 4.3 mm.  There is no dilatation of intrahepatic biliary ducts.

Liver, spleen, pancreas, and abdominal aorta are unremarkable.

Right kidney measures 11.5 x 5.2 x 5 cm and left kidney measures 12.3 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm.  There is no evidence of renal calculus or hydronephrosis.  No definite focal renal mass is noted.

IMPRESSION:
1.                   Unremarkable ultrasound study of abdomen.
2.                   Clinical correlation and if indicated, further evaluation with CT is suggested.

Common bowel duct measures 5 mm.  There is no dilation of intrahepatic biliary ducts.

Pancreas is normal without any evidence of a focal mass.

The liver and spleen are normal in size and have a homogenous echotexture.  There is no focal mass or ascites.

The abdominal aorta is unremarkable.  There is no evidence of aneurysm.
